OLV Preschool
Philosophy
At Our Lady of Victory Preschool we recognize that while the children develop at somewhat predictable rates each child is none the less an individual. Therefore, our staff is committed to providing a secure and nurturing environment where a child can comfortable grow socially, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Preschool should be a time for creative exploration, discovery and the learning of new skills through activities which are first and foremost fun for the child. Our goals are as follows :
- to encourage the developments of self sufficiency and self confidence in teh child through the participation in age appropriate activities.
- to encourage the development of social skills such as sharing, behavioral limits and respect for property and the well being of others in a group situation.
- to provide activies which help develop and extend verbalization, language and cognitive skills such as math, science and creative problem solving.
- to provide a caring environment in which the child adjusts to new situations, experiences and people at his/her own pace.
- to provide a variety of multi-sensory activities
- to foster acceptance of and respect for the differences among cultures, nationalities and age groups.
- to encourage the child to accept and respect their own feelings and to guide the child to express these feelings in ways which do not cause harm to themselves or others.
- to introduce children to the love of God as evident in the world around them.
- to introduce children to the teachings of Christ and to show, by example, the ways in which these are integrated into our daily lives.
-
programs and activities are planned according to:
