Scouting

- Boy Scouts
- Cub Scouts Pack #383 – Open to boys of OLVCS and OLV Parish, starting in 1st grade with the Tiger Scouts. In 6th grade, boys crossover into Boy Scouts Pack #83 sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.
- Girl Scouts
- Girl Scouts Troop #116 – Girl Scout groups meet by grade level. Registration information is distributed through the school.

Music
The instrumental music program offers:
- Woodwind – beginning in 4th Grade
- Brass – beginning in 4th Grade
- Percussion – beginning in 4th Grade
- Violin lessons (Strings) – introductory lessons start in Kindergarten, lessons start in 1st grade

- Instrumental Music Program Tuition
- Payable in nine equal payments with the first due at the beginning of September and the first of each month thereafter through May. The tuition includes a minimum of 32 lessons/performance during the school year, a lesson book and theory assignments. Other materials and music are provided to supplement the instruction books. Tuition costs are available upon request.
- Band

- The OLVCS Band is available to students in grades 4-5 who play a band instrument. First year students typically join the band in January. Students who have taken lessons prior to the fall may be accepted into the band at an earlier date. This group performs at the school as well as various community venues. Rehearsals are every Thursday from 2:15 – 3:15 pm.
- The OLVCS Middle School Wind Ensemble
- This group is available to 6th, 7th & 8th grade students who play a wind or percussion instrument. The group will study pep band and Christmas music as well as compositions from the classical, popular and jazz genres. The student is engaged in a small group ensemble of mixed instrumentation and will study sacred music through the school year. The class is designed to encourage performance and introduces older and advanced students to more challenging and varied music. Off-campus performances are planned. This group rehearses once a week.
- Strings/Violin

- Kinderstrings

- Kinderstrings is a class offered to introduce the violin and reading music to kindergarten students. The children are taught in a small group with music, activities and practice skills designed for this age group. If the student exhibits the necessary skills during the school year, he or she is invited to advance to the Jr. Strings Program
- Jr. String Ensemble
- Students taking string lessons in grades 1 & 2 participate in the Junior String Ensemble. At various times throughout the year the students will practice in a larger group setting to gain ensemble experience. Group practices will replace lessons at various times throughout the year and particularly in April to prepare for a spring recital held at the school. There is no charge for participation in this group given the practice times are scheduled in lieu of lessons.
- String Orchestra
- The OLVCS String Orchestra is available to students in grades 3-5 who play a stringed instrument. Beginning students are accepted into the orchestra typically after one year of lessons. Students will learn the basics of ensemble and performance techniques while learning and preparing a variety of music to be performed at the school as well as various community venues. Rehearsals are every Tuesday from 2:15 – 3:15 pm.
- The OLVCS Middle School String Ensemble

- Students in grades 6-8 who play a stringed instrument can be a part of the Middle School String Ensemble. This class focuses on developing performance and musicianship skills for older and more advanced string students. Students will study and prepare for performance more difficult chamber music from various classical music periods, while learning advanced ensemble and performance techniques. Student will study sacred music throughout the school year and prepare Christmas music in November and December. Off-campus performances are planned. This group rehearses once a week.
- Choir
- The primary goal of our elementary and middle school choirs is to bring the message of faith and love to our school and community. Performances include singing at school Masses, bringing their joy and love of music to the surrounding community by touring local nursing homes and singing at our own Nittany Mall, Christmas concerts, Fine Arts Night at OLVCS, OLV Summerfest, and Graduation. Choir is open to OLVCS students in grades 3-8. For more information, please contact the school office.
- Middle School Musical
- Students in grades 6, 7, and 8 are encouraged to participate in a fully-staged Spring musical. Practice begins in April and concludes with performances in late May.

Other Activities & Clubs
- Fencing
- Beginning in 3rd grade students are eligible to participate in our fencing program. Learn the basics of fencing from Wes Glon & assistant coaches from PSU Fencing Program. Our team completes against other teams in the area. Fee Charged
- Ski Club
- Students may participate in a Ski Club sponsored by OLVCS and Tussey Mountain Ski Area. Student can select from a variety of packages, including lessons, lifts & rentals for skiing or snowboarding.
- Drama Club

- We act. We film. We show. The drama club is currently working on its newest movie, a mystery. Talented students develop their own characters and story-lines and ad-lib their own dialogue, in a style we've used in our past movies. We film every Tuesday after school and the building is our stage.
